Armen Alexanian Passes Away.

Armen Alexanian with Daughter Linda, and Armen with wife Jane (circa 1956)
Armen Alexanian, second son of Alexanian's founder Aris Alexanian, passed away July 1, 2010 in Kitchener Ontario.
Armen was an astute business man, active community service worker, a sportsman and family man. Armen along with his two brothers Aram and Albert oversaw the expansion and growth of the family carpet business over the past 50 years. He was a world traveller. Armen first travelled with his father Aris in the late 50's, on buying trips to the Middle East and India. Then, as the buyer of area rugs for the company he did his own treks, along with his trusty wife Jane. The two of them had a love of travelling, especially to India where they deleloped many friendships. Armen was known as shrewd negotiator when buying rugs abroad. There is a legendary tale of Armen closing a large carpet deal in India on a coin flip. The price of the carpets was at first too high. Armen made a much lower offer. An agreement could not be reached. Armen suggested a coin flip to decide. He won the toss!
Armen's community work with the Kiwanis was very rewarding to him. He served as President, Chair and Advisor at various times and received many awards for his work.
Armen's love of baseball was highlighted at his birthday in June of this year where 60 family members and friends met at the Rogers Centre for a Bluejays game against his long time favourite team the Giants. He was also an avid golfer and card player.
Most of all Armen loved his family. Large gatherings of the clan were important and enjoyable to him. Armen is survived by younger brother Albert, 6 children and 8 grandchildren.
